The TK4100 is one of the most widely used low-frequency RFID chips in the access control and identification industry. As a 125kHz read-only proximity chip, it powers millions of ID cards, key fobs, and wristbands deployed in offices, residential communities, schools, and gyms worldwide. For card manufacturers and system integrators, sourcing reliable TK4100 inlays directly from a prelam inlay factory is essential to controlling production cost and quality.

A TK4100 inlay is a pre-laminated RFID sheet containing the TK4100 chip and its antenna coil embedded between layers of PET or PVC film. Card manufacturers then laminate this inlay sheet with printed overlay layers to produce finished contactless ID cards. The inlay is the core functional component — without a consistent, well-made inlay, even the best-printed card will fail at the reader. The TK4100 chip itself operates at 125kHz and follows the EM4100 protocol. It is a read-only chip with a 64-bit unique ID (UID) burned in during production, meaning it does not store user data and cannot be rewritten. This simplicity is its strength: it is inexpensive, highly reliable, and compatible with virtually all 125kHz proximity readers on the market.

From a technical standpoint, TK4100 inlays carry a 125kHz (LF) signal compliant with the EM4100 / EM4102 protocol, a 64-bit read-only UID that is factory-programmed and non-writable, and a typical reading distance of 3–10 cm depending on the reader antenna and card quality. They are built on PET or PVC-based prelam sheets designed for standard card lamination processes, and are available in various layouts — such as CR80 sheets with multiple card-sized inlays per sheet — to fit different lamination press sizes. Because the TK4100 is read-only and requires no data encoding, it is best suited for identification-only use cases where the UID serves as the card's unique identifier. Typical applications include access control for office buildings, apartment community gates, gym membership check-in, and time attendance; low-cost asset and inventory tracking; and library or asset tags where only identification, not read/write data storage, is needed.

For card manufacturers, the quality of the prelam inlay directly determines yield rate. A poorly manufactured inlay — with weak antenna bonding, misaligned chip placement, or inconsistent sheet thickness — leads to rejected cards, failed reads, and wasted overlay material. Common quality issues include short reading range, often caused by antenna coil resistance outside specification or weak chip-to-antenna bonding; batch inconsistency, where some cards in a batch read fine while others are not detected, usually pointing to inconsistent production tolerances; and delamination or signal loss after lamination, indicating that the inlay materials or adhesive layers do not withstand standard card lamination heat and pressure. This is why choosing a reputable TK4100 inlay manufacturer with strict in-process testing is critical — it protects your production line from unexpected defects.

ZF Card  is a China-based source factory specializing in smart cards and smart labels, with over 20 years of manufacturing experience. As a direct inlay supplier, we provide factory-direct pricing, which bypasses trading companies and means lower cost plus clearer communication on specs, lead times, and quality control. Every batch undergoes strict chip testing — including reading-distance and UID verification before shipment — ensuring high yield for your card lamination process. We also support various prelam sheet layouts and accept both trial orders and bulk production runs with a competitive MOQ.
